Why Use Dipodo?
The aim of Dipodo is to revolutionise the way scientists do research..The aim of Dipodo is to revolutionise the way scientists do research. The primary model of journal publication has remained largely unchanged for the past two hundred years. Each journal publishing a collection of articles in each issue, that readers must sift through to find articles of interest. However, with 1 million life science articles published last year across 25,000 journals, today's scientists simply have no chance of finding all articles relevant to their research. The aim of Dipodo is to change this. Dipodo uses machine learning approaches to understand a user's area of interests from their reference collection, and keeps them regularly updated with all relevant research. No more trawling through each journal's table of contents or running regular searches. Relevant, and only relevant, research direct to them. Their own personal journal.
However the aim of Dipodo is to also rewrite the rules..However the aim of Dipodo is to also rewrite the rules of what a journal can be. By learning what type of a scientist a user is, and in addition to recommending articles, Dipodo is also able to keep users updated with relevant funding opportunities, jobs, webinars, blogs and conferences. Users will no longer have to register with specific forums as relevant questions and discussions will automatically be matched to their field and interests. All of these without the requirement of any input from the user.. As a user's interests change so do their results. Automatically.
Scientists generally do their article researchScientists generally do their article research in isolation. A key aim of Dipodo is to change this. Dipodo users can easily share what they are reading with their friends and collaborators. However, whereas most social networks are based on links between people who already know one another, Dipodo will also allow scientists to find their peers across the globe. By linking scientists by their shared interests, users will be able to see what their closest peers are reading and publishing and what they are saying. As well as this Dipodo is seamlessly integrated with the main social media platforms (twitter, Facebook etc.), as well as the major reference managers such as Mendeley and Zotero allowing users to save interesting articles back to their reference collections. Consequently Dipodo is more than just a journal. It is a jobs site. It is a social network. It is the future of scienc.
